Ratha Yatra, the Festival of Chariots of Lord Jagannatha is celebrated every year at Puri, the temple town in Orissa, on the east coast of India. It is the oldest Ratha Yatra taking place in India and the World, whose descriptions can be found in Brahma Purana, Padma Purana and Skanda Purana and Kapila Samhita. The presiding deities of the main temple, Sri Mandira, Lord Jagannatha, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, with the celestial wheel Sudarshana are taken out from the temple precincts in an elaborate ritual procession to their respective chariots. The huge, colourfully decorated chariots are drawn by hundreds and thousands of devotees. On 7th January 2017, students of MySkills Foundation participated in the event at Little India, Brickfields organised by ISKCON Malaysia accompanied by Ms Rajini, Ms Sivapreeyah and Ms Jhanaanii.
The purpose of this event held was to purifies one’s materially contaminated heart and thus helps one make progress in developing attachment for Krishna which is dormant in the heart. It plays an important role in bringing together all the devotees of Krishna as students gets to at least for one day, by remembering Him, chanting His holy names, dancing and honouring Krishna prasadam while the Lord takes a pleasure ride and blesses all on the way. In the end, many of our students are delightful and they expressed their extreme joy.
