July, Fifteen students from our MySkills campus embarked on an unforgettable journey, immersing themselves in the wonders of biodiversity and financial literacy through two remarkable events. This experience has left a lasting impact on our students, inspiring them with newfound knowledge and enthusiasm.
Exploring Nature with Roots & Shoots Malaysia
The adventure began with the Biodiversity Screening & Excursion organized by Roots & Shoots Malaysia. Our students had the unique opportunity to explore KL Eco Park, a rare urban forest nestled in the heart of a bustling city. Under the expert guidance of Roots & Shoots representatives, students learned about the rich diversity of old trees and specific habitats within the park.
The excursion was a feast for the senses, with students eagerly discovering various animals, birds, and reptiles. The interactive Q&A session allowed them to delve deeper into the fascinating world of wildlife, asking questions and gaining insights that enriched their understanding. A special highlight was a warm-up message from the esteemed Dr. Jane Goodall, the founder of Roots & Shoots, who inspired everyone with her dedication to conservation.
Gaining Financial Wisdom with Yayasan Bursa Malaysia
On the same day, our students also participated in a Financial Literacy Program hosted by Yayasan Bursa Malaysia. This session was equally enlightening, as students learned about the importance of savings and were educated on various financial frauds and scams. The program equipped them with essential tips on how to protect themselves from financial deception, fostering a sense of financial responsibility.
The dual experience of exploring nature and understanding financial literacy has provided our students with invaluable skills and knowledge. The day concluded with a short screening on the Last Malaysian Gibbon, showcasing the incredible efforts to conserve this species located in Sepang Forest.
